The United States Mint manufactured Trade silver dollars minted from 1873 to 1885. The US minted the 1880 silver dollar with no mint mark and also the 1880 CC silver dollar, 1880 O silver dollar, and 1880 S silver dollar. The mint mark, when present, can be found on the reverse side of the coin below the wreath.

The 1880 silver dollar series has several different variations, and each variation is valued differently. Most of these varitations involve numbers minted over other numbers. For example there is the 80 over 79 variation where the number number 80 is minted over the number 79. Another example is 8 over high 7, where the number 8 is minted over a high 7. This is different then the 8 over low 7, where the 8 is minted over a lower 7 where it's easier to see the 7.

Grading System

Very fine- About two thirds of Liberty's hair lines from above her forehead her ear are visible.

Extremely fine- Liberty's hair lines and ear look strong.

MS 60 Uncirculated condition- There are no signs of wear. The coin has luster, but there may be a few stains, abrasions, or surface marks.

MS 65 Uncirculated condition- There is strong luster and eye appeal. A few light contact marks are present but they are barely noticeable.

PR 63 proof- This coin has reflective surfaces and only a few blemishes away from the major focal points. There are no major flaws.
